February Twenty Eight

Finally at the end of February. Wow I am hoping never to not have a computer again. Or just not give Jason all the computers at once. My goal is to be completely caught up this weekend so come Monday morning the eighth of March will be fresh and on schedult. PLEASE HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE.

Duties of the Kohathite clan/ numbers 4:1-20
What is the significance of the colors?
. 8 They must spread a scarlet cloth over all of this, and finally a covering of fine goatskin leather on top of the scarlet cloth. Then they must insert the carrying poles into the table.

9 “Next they must cover the lampstand with a blue cloth, along with its lamps, lamp snuffers, trays, and special jars of olive oil. 10 Then they must cover the lampstand and its accessories with fine goatskin leather and place the bundle on a carrying frame.

11 “Next they must spread a blue cloth over the gold incense altar and cover this cloth with fine goatskin leather. Then they must attach the carrying poles to the altar. 12 They must take all the remaining furnishings of the sanctuary and wrap them in a blue cloth, cover them with fine goatskin leather, and place them on the carrying frame.

13 “They must remove the ashes from the altar for sacrifices and cover the altar with a purple cloth.

duties of the Gershonite clan/numbers 4:21-28

Duties of the Merarite clan/numbers 4:29-33

The census of the Levites/Numbers 4:34-49

Purity in Israel's camp/Numbers 5:1-10
Catholisism (sp?) scares me becuase of the idol worshipping and the praying to others than God. This though does sound like how the catholics confess and then the preist tells them what to do to be forgiven?? Any explanation for me???? 5 Then the Lord said to Moses, 6 “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel: If any of the people—men or women—betray the Lord by doing wrong to another person, they are guilty. 7 They must confess their sin and make full restitution for what they have done, adding an additional 20 percent and returning it to the person who was wronged.

Protecting Marital Faithfulness/Numbers 5:11-31
But what if the husband does not suspect anything? Does she just keep quiet?? “Suppose a man’s wife goes astray, and she is unfaithful to her husband 13 and has sex with another man, but neither her husband nor anyone else knows about it. She has defiled herself, even though there was no witness and she was not caught in the act. 14 If her husband becomes jealous and is suspicious of his wife and needs to know whether or not she has defiled herself, 15 the husband must bring his wife to the priest. He must also bring an offering of two quarts[m] of barley flour to be presented on her behalf. Do not mix it with olive oil or frankincense, for it is a jealousy offering—an offering to prove whether or not she is guilty.
Okay I am putting this whole section here. My questions are:
~Is this only for woman?
~This really scares me. It sounds more like going to a witch doctor or something out of a movie.
~What is this "bitter water".
~Did God always intervein and make the woman's belly swell and womb shrivel?
~It reminds me of alot of stories when the people would pick and choose who were guilty-Does that make sense.
~Are curses still put on people and generations?? I thought they were make believe.

February Twenty Seven

Just saying....I am glad to be out of Leviticus. You know when you write a word and it just doesn't look like it is spelled correctly? It is spelled correctly but it for some odd reason looks.... odd. Well I am going to use this analogy for the typing the word Leviticus. I have typed it over and over and it looks fine but what my problem is my fingers want to type Levuccis sooo...phew. Numbers is easy to type. yay.

Oraganization for Israel's camp/Numbers 2:1-34
It just amazes me that there were this many people. 32 In summary, the troops of Israel listed by their families totaled 603,550.

Levites appointed for service/Numbers 3:1-13
I am still amazed, again, only Aaron and the two sons to be as preists over 100k people. I know churches with 4-5000 that people think are "too big" when we do not have all of these rituals. It must have been just WOW.
These sons of Aaron were anointed and ordained to minister as priests. 4 But Nadab and Abihu died in the Lord’s presence in the wilderness of Sinai when they burned before the Lord the wrong kind of fire, different than he had commanded. Since they had no sons, this left only Eleazar and Ithamar to serve as priests with their father, Aaron.
Okay now I understand that there was help...
9 Assign the Levites to Aaron and his sons. They have been given from among all the people of Israel to serve as their assistants
I am confused here. I remember God taking Egypts first born. I remember God saying that the first born belong to him. But don't we all belong to him? What does it mean and what does it mean "substitutes for all the firstborn"?
11 And the Lord said to Moses, 12 “Look, I have chosen the Levites from among the Israelites to serve as substitutes for all the firstborn sons of the people of Israel. The Levites belong to me, 13 for all the firstborn males are mine. On the day I struck down all the firstborn sons of the Egyptians, I set apart for myself all the firstborn in Israel, both of people and of animals. They are mine; I am the Lord.”

The Census of the Levites/Numbers 3: 14-39
My other days questions on how they moved the Tabernacle etc. Is now explained. The sad way I envision it is see how fast a circus or fair sets up and tears down within days. Now I understand how organized it was and how many people worked on it and it makes sense.:)

39 When Moses and Aaron counted the Levite clans at the Lord’s command, the total number was 22,000 males one month old or older.

Redeeming the firstborn sons/Numbers 3:40-51
I am hoping this is clarified. Do the rest of the Israelites not have to worry about the firstborn "rule" anymore?
40 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Now count all the firstborn sons in Israel who are one month old or older, and make a list of their names. 41 The Levites must be reserved for me as substitutes for the firstborn sons of Israel; I am the Lord. And the Levites’ livestock must be reserved for me as substitutes for the firstborn livestock of the whole nation of Israel.”
HELP~ Did they "buy" back the sons from God???? I am still unclear on this.
44 Then the Lord said to Moses, 45 “Take the Levites as substitutes for the firstborn sons of the people of Israel. And take the livestock of the Levites as substitutes for the firstborn livestock of the people of Israel. The Levites belong to me; I am the Lord. 46 There are 273 more firstborn sons of Israel than there are Levites. To redeem these extra firstborn sons, 47 collect five pieces of silver[g] for each of them (each piece weighing the same as the sanctuary shekel, which equals twenty gerahs). 48 Give the silver to Aaron and his sons as the redemption price for the extra firstborn sons.”49 So Moses collected the silver for redeeming the firstborn sons of Israel who exceeded the number of Levites. 50 He collected 1,365 pieces of silver[h] on behalf of these firstborn sons of Israel (each piece weighing the same as the sanctuary shekel). 51 And Moses gave the silver for the redemption to Aaron and his sons, just as the Lord had commanded.

February Twenty Six

Yay! The forecast says rain this weekend. I better plant a few more seeds. I am looking forward to lots of flowers this spring. Sorry everyone with allergies!!! I would stock up on meds now.

Redeeming gifts offered to the Lord/Leviticus 27:1-34
I do not understand this whole section.I understand the value system. (Although I would pay alot more for a woman than a man. I would love another housewife around here hee hee. oops sorry) Why are people, animals and land being dedicated to the Lord and having a value put on them? They are made Holy?? Then people must buy them back from the preists??? HELP!!
1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. If anyone makes a special vow to dedicate someone to the Lord by paying the value of that person, 3 here is the scale of values to be used.

Israel's first census/Numbers 1:1-54

The tribes are named after Jacob's sons. Are they dead by now? Because the leaders I would think would be the sons if they are still around. Tribe — Leader
Reuben — Elizur son of Shedeur
6 Simeon — Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai
7 Judah — Nahshon son of Amminadab
8 Issachar — Nethanel son of Zuar
9 Zebulun — Eliab son of Helon
10 Ephraim son of Joseph — Elishama son of Ammihud
Manasseh son of Joseph — Gamaliel son of Pedahzur
11 Benjamin — Abidan son of Gideoni
12 Dan — Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai
13 Asher — Pagiel son of Ocran
14 Gad — Eliasaph son of Deuel
15 Naphtali — Ahira son of Enan

Wow. Very interesting. I keep visualizing (sp?) a small camp. This brings a complete different picture. How in the world could they keep record? I remember entering the work force and not having a computer I can not imagine what the kids nowadays are going to think with no knowledge of non computer-life.
Tribe — Number
Reuben (Jacob’s[m] oldest son) — 46,500
22-23 Simeon — 59,300
24-25 Gad — 45,650
26-27 Judah — 74,600
28-29 Issachar — 54,400
30-31 Zebulun — 57,400
32-33 Ephraim son of Joseph — 40,500
34-35 Manasseh son of Joseph — 32,200
36-37 Benjamin — 35,400
38-39 Dan — 62,700
40-41 Asher — 41,500
42-43 Naphtali — 53,400

WOW~WOW~WOW 46 The total number was 603,550.
Again why are the Levites set apart? 47 But this total did not include the Levites. 48 For the Lord had said to Moses, 49 “Do not include the tribe of Levi in the registration; do not count them with the rest of the Israelites. 50 Put the Levites in charge of the Tabernacle of the Covenant,[n] along with all its furnishings and equipment. They must carry the Tabernacle and all its furnishings as you travel, and they must take care of it and camp around it. 51 Whenever it is time for the Tabernacle to move, the Levites will take it down. And when it is time to stop, they will set it up again.
???The Lord's anger????? 53 But the Levites will camp around the Tabernacle of the Covenant to protect the community of Israel from the Lord’s anger. The Levites are responsible to stand guard around the Tabernacle.”

February Twenty Five

Diving right in---->

Redemption of property/Leviticus 25:24-34
All I am saying is that if we followed these rules maybe the whole housing market collapse could have been avoided and I would be sitting outside with my golf course view.....I am just saying..... 23 “The land must never be sold on a permanent basis, for the land belongs to me. You are only foreigners and tenant farmers working for me.
24 “With every purchase of land you must grant the seller the right to buy it back. 25 If one of your fellow Israelites falls into poverty and is forced to sell some family land, then a close relative should buy it back for him. 26 If there is no close relative to buy the land, but the person who sold it gets enough money to buy it back, 27 he then has the right to redeem it from the one who bought it. The price of the land will be discounted according to the number of years until the next Year of Jubilee. In this way the original owner can then return to the land. 28 But if the original owner cannot afford to buy back the land, it will remain with the new owner until the next Year of Jubilee. In the jubilee year, the land must be returned to the original owners so they can return to their family land.

29 “Anyone who sells a house inside a walled town has the right to buy it back for a full year after its sale. During that year, the seller retains the right to buy it back. 30 But if it is not bought back within a year, the sale of the house within the walled town cannot be reversed. It will become the permanent property of the buyer. It will not be returned to the original owner in the Year of Jubilee. 31 But a house in a village—a settlement without fortified walls—will be treated like property in the countryside. Such a house may be bought back at any time, and it must be returned to the original owner in the Year of Jubilee.
I personally need to view my house and property as Gods house and property. I struggle with this.
Now See...Except for the greed of getting money out of the house to live beyond our means isn't this what everyone wants...18 “If you want to live securely in the land, follow my decrees and obey my regulations.
I asked earlier. What is with the Levites that they get special treatment from God? 32 “The Levites always have the right to buy back a house they have sold within the towns allotted to them

Redemption of the poor and enslaved/Leviticus 25:35-55
When God is talking about slavery; Is it the same term we use now? Why was it okay then and not now????? 44 “However, you may purchase male and female slaves from among the nations around you. 45

Blessings for obedience/Leviticus 26:1-13

Punishments for disobedience/Leviticus 26:14-46
I am a little confused. God knows we will disobey because we are made that humans. Does he mean if we are disobedient and do not repent? 14 “However, if you do not listen to me or obey all these commands, 15 and if you break my covenant by rejecting my decrees, treating my regulations with contempt, and refusing to obey my commands, 16 I will punish you. I will bring sudden terrors upon you—wasting diseases and burning fevers that will cause your eyes to fail and your life to ebb away. You will plant your crops in vain because your enemies will eat them. 17 I will turn against you, and you will be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you will rule over you, and you will run even when no one is chasing you!
18 “And if, in spite of all this, you still disobey me, I will punish you seven times over for your sins.

February Twenty Four

Catching up slowly. I need a Carls Jr with a playyard or a park with WiFi and then I would be all caught up :)

The appointed festivals/Leviticus 23:1-4

Passover and the festival of unleavened bread/Leviticus 23:5-8

The festival of firstfuits/Leviticus 23:9-14
Does each person do this? With one Tabernacle and Aaron as the priest wouldn't there be a long line and this take a very long time?? 9 Then the Lord said to Moses, 10 “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. When you enter the land I am giving you and you harvest its first crops, bring the priest a bundle of grain from the first cutting of your grain harvest. 11 On the day after the Sabbath, the priest will lift it up before the Lord so it may be accepted on your behalf. 12 On that same day you must sacrifice a one-year-old male lamb with no defects as a burnt offering to the Lord. 13

The festival of harvest/Leviticus 23:15-22
Was there a money system yet? How was "the poor" determined? I would think then you had a choice ? Well maybe not if there was a bum crop then ..Well no because....well I am not sure how do you determine poor back then?
22 “When you harvest the crops of your land, do not harvest the grain along the edges of your fields, and do not pick up what the harvesters drop. Leave it for the poor and the foreigners living among you. I am the Lord your God.”

The festival of trumpets/Leviticus 23:23-25
WooHoo. No ordinary work. That is my job "ordinary work". Well really raising a husband and my girls is anything but ordinary.
Now with the Jewish calendar, would the seasons be the same? Would autumn still be around our October???

The day of atonement/Leviticus 23:26-32
He said it not me. I am only following orders....30 And I will destroy anyone among you who does any work on that day.31 You must not do any work at all! This is a permanent law for you, and it must be observed from generation to generation wherever you live.

The festival of shelters/Leviticus 23:33-44
I love this festival. To me it is like a camping festival. Although I am not to sure they would enjoy it like I would. I think it would make you appreciate how God has blessed me with a home to live in.

Pure oil and holy bread/Leviticus 24:1-9
Is this always or during this festival? If it is always what do they do when they move? Or are they in their permanent area now??? [n] Aaron must keep the lamps burning in the Lord’s presence all night. This is a permanent law for you, and it must be observed from generation to generation

An example of just punishment/Leviticus 24:10-23
How literal is this to be taken???19 “Anyone who injures another person must be dealt with according to the injury inflicted—20 a fracture for a fracture, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Whatever anyone does to injure another person must be paid back in kind.

The sabbath year/Leviticus 25:1-7
Okay I am not going to lie (lye???sp?)I am all for a sabbath year!!! Yeehaw..okay sorry I couldn't resist :)

The year ofjubilee/Leviticus 25:8-23
Is this still celebrated in traditional Jewish calendar? What year would the next one be? 8 “In addition, you must count off seven Sabbath years, seven sets of seven years, adding up to forty-nine years in all. 9 Then on the Day of Atonement in the fiftieth year,[q] blow the ram’s horn loud and long throughout the land.

February Twenty Three

Oh I thought I would be caught up by now. Not a good way to start March. I look around and all I see is a cluttered house and me not being caught up on this....breathe....
Thank you God for being bigger than all of this. I give it to you!!!!!!

~Punishments for disobedience/ Leviticus 20:1-27
What/Who is Molech? I thought it has to have something to do with molestation because it has children and then the spelling is similar?“If any of them offer their children as a sacrifice to Molech, they must be put to death. The people of the community must stone them to death. and 5 I myself will turn against them and their families and will cut them off from the community. This will happen to all who commit spiritual prostitution by worshiping Molech.

Instructions for the priests/ leviticus 21:1-11:16
I am not sure why a priest can not touch a dead body? But certain relatives he can? 1 The Lord said to Moses, “Give the following instructions to the priests, the descendants of Aaron.
“A priest must not make himself ceremonially unclean by touching the dead body of a relative. 2 The only exceptions are his closest relatives—his mother or father, son or daughter, brother, 3 or his virgin sister who depends on him because she has no husband. 4 But a priest must not defile himself and make himself unclean for someone who is related to him only by marriage

Thank God we do not stick to this one :) Could you imagine our pastors following this... 5 “The priests must not shave their heads or trim their beards or cut their bodies.
Why do Catholic priests not marry at all? 7 “Priests may not marry a woman defiled by prostitution, and they may not marry a woman who is divorced from her husband, for the priests are set apart as holy to their God and 7 “Priests may not marry a woman defiled by prostitution, and they may not marry a woman who is divorced from her husband, for the priests are set apart as holy to their God
WOW Why is this?I thought we were to treat these people as equals?? 18 No one who has a defect qualifies, whether he is blind, lame, disfigured, deformed, 19 or has a broken foot or arm, 20 or is hunchbacked or dwarfed, or has a defective eye, or skin sores or scabs, or damaged testicles. 21 No descendant of Aaron who has a defect may approach the altar to present special gifts to the Lord. Since he has a defect, he may not approach the altar to offer food to his God.

Worthy and unworthy offerings/ Leviticus 22:17-33

Monday, February 22, 2010

February Twenty Two

First time back with the old way of my bible study (bible study not quiet time). Got a living room with my girls and daddy. Oh and it is raining. appy Happy Mommy this morning.

Prohibitions against eating blood/ Leviticus 17:1-16
I am thinking this is how the whole "vampire" legends and myths began. Why else would someone ever even think of drinking blood.t is similar to kids if you tell them you can't they want to more.
Also I am a Christian, Jesus died for my sins so these sacrifices do not take place anymore in my faith. When did the Jews stop the sacrificing animals? and why? I would think that since they do not believe Christ is their savior they would need to continue???

Forbidden sexual practices/Leviticus 18:1-30
Now my question is. Earlier weeks we covered how we do not need to follow "those" laws anymore. I do believe in these laws. Who makes the decisions on which old testament laws to keep obeying and which not too???? This really scares me!!!!!!!

Holiness in personal conduct/leviticus 19:1-37
Again....I am confused what laws are we still to obey and which do we not. I have certain morals that I go by but it says to keep all the laws and put them into practice: 37 “You must be careful to keep all of my decrees and regulations by putting them into practice. I am the Lord.”

February Twenty One

Trying to catch up!!! Thanks for barring (bearing? bairing?) with me :)
Todays study looks ....err.....interesting.Bodily discharges...eww.

treatment of contaminated houses/Leviticus 14:33-57
Does God do this so he has examples to teach the people? 33 Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, 34 “When you arrive in Canaan, the land I am giving you as your own possession, I may contaminate some of the houses in your land with mildew.

Bodily discharges/Leviticus 15:1-33
I know this is for the cleanliness of people before God before going in the Tabernacle. (Except for the animal sacrifices)Is this also teaching them good hygeine or does it have anything to do with it?

The day of Atonement/Leviticus 16: 1-34
What does "to cast sacred lots" mean in 8 He is to cast sacred lots to determine which goat will be reserved as an offering to the Lord and which will carry the sins of the people to the wilderness of Azazel.
Is the scapegoat sent to the wilderness or sent back to the person? Is this where the term "scapegoat" was developed? 10 The other goat, the scapegoat chosen by lot to be sent away, will be kept alive, standing before the Lord. When it is sent away to Azazel in the wilderness, the people will be purified and made right with the Lord.[i]

Here is one of my questions answered 26 “The man chosen to drive the scapegoat into the wilderness of Azazel must wash his clothes and bathe himself in water. Then he may return to the camp.
What day is this? I am assuming it would be on their calendar? 29 “On the tenth day of the appointed month in early autumn,[l] you must deny yourselves.[m] Neither native-born Israelites nor foreigners living among you may do any kind of work. This is a permanent law for you. 30 On that day offerings of purification will be made for you,[n] and you will be purified in the Lord’s presence from all your sins. 31 It will be a Sabbath day of complete rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. This is a permanent law for you.

Februaury Twenty

Yay I am back. Well it might not be exact timing. I have to catch up. My goal is to do 2 a day to catch up soooo lets see if I am faithful. I just got my laptop back from getting windows 7 on it and getting ALL THE JUNK that I collect on it. Funny I am not so much a hoarder/pack rat, as my O.C.D. would suggest, in fact I love "purging" and emptying space. But on the computer. I save and file and favorite everything. Then for the most part I do not go back and use it. So Jason saved my stuff in case I really need some long lost recipe or life lesson and I have more space or something.

Purification after childbirth /Leviticus 12:1-8
WOW

Contagious skin deiseases /Leviticus 13:1-46
29 “If anyone, either a man or woman, has a sore on the head or chin, 30 the priest must examine it. If he finds it is more than skin-deep and has fine yellow hair on it, the priest must pronounce the person ceremonially unclean. Nowadays we would be in for it. Too bad they didn't have "proactive" back then. Could you imagine in the conditions they lived in pimples would have to be active!! :)
45 “Those who suffer from a serious skin disease must tear their clothing and leave their hair uncombed.[e] They must cover their mouth and call out, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’ THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!! I am so glad I live AD.
Treatment of contaminated clothing/Leviticus 13:47-59
I 5 The priest will order that one bird be slaughtered over a clay pot filled with fresh water. 6 He will take the live bird, the cedar stick, the scarlet yarn, and the hyssop branch, and dip them into the blood of the bird that was slaughtered over the fresh water. 7 The priest will then sprinkle the blood of the dead bird seven times on the person being purified of the skin disease.Wild birds gross me out (thank you dad for always saying don't touch that feather it is dirty) So I am cringing when I read this. I would think that this would bring on other illnesses. (and anyone that has been around me will hear me say to my girls "put that down it is dirty"...
8 “The persons being purified must then wash their clothes, shave off all their hair, and bathe themselves in water. Then they will be ceremonially clean and may return to the camp. However, they must remain outside their tents for seven days. 9 On the seventh day they must again shave all the hair from their heads, including the hair of the beard and eyebrows. They must also wash their clothes and bathe themselves in water. Then they will be ceremonially clean. Again~~Thank you Jesus!!!
Why these specific body parts????? 14 The priest will then take some of the blood of the guilt offering and apply it to the lobe of the right ear, the thumb of the right hand, and the big toe of the right foot of the person being purified. and 17 The priest will then apply some of the oil in his palm over the blood from the guilt offering that is on the lobe of the right ear, the thumb of the right hand, and the big toe of the right foot of the person being purified and 25 Then the priest will slaughter the lamb for the guilt offering. He will take some of its blood and apply it to the lobe of the right ear, the thumb of the right hand, and the big toe of the right foot of the person being purified. and 28 The priest will then apply some of the oil in his palm over the blood from the guilt offering that is on the lobe of the right ear, the thumb of the right hand, and the big toe of the right foot of the person being purified. ?????

February Nineteen

I often wish I was born in a different time.Okay not really but sometimes when I am frustrated I do wish for more simpler times. But when I read things that people had to do before Christ. WOW Thank God I did not live in those times. Can I get an Amen!!!

The priests begin their work/ Leviticus 9:1-24
Does each person do this or 1 offering item per person or group or for all of the people? 2 He said to Aaron, “Take a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering, both without defects, and present them to the Lord. 3 Then tell the Israelites, ‘Take a male goat for a sin offering, and take a calf and a lamb, both a year old and without defects, for a burnt offering. 4 Also take a bull[a] and a ram for a peace offering and flour moistened with olive oil for a grain offering. Present all these offerings to the Lord because the Lord will appear to you today.’”

The forbidden blood and fat/ Leviticus 7:22-27

A Portion for the priests/ Leviticus 7:28-38
Why the breast and right thigh? 30 Present it to the Lord with your own hands as a special gift to the Lord. Bring the fat of the animal, together with the breast, and lift up the breast as a special offering to the Lord. 31 Then the priest will burn the fat on the altar, but the breast will belong to Aaron and his descendants. 32 Give the right thigh of your peace offering to the priest as a gift. 33 The right thigh must always be given to the priest who offers the blood and the fat of the peace offering.

I am still not quite sure that I understand the not having yeast. 16 Aaron and his sons may eat the rest of the flour, but it must be baked without yeast and eaten in a sacred place within the courtyard of the Tabernacle.[j] 17 Remember, it must never be prepared with yeast. I have given it to the priests as their share of the special gifts presented to me. Like the sin offering and the guilt offering, it is most holy.

Why on the north side? 11 Slaughter the animal on the north side of the altar in the Lord’s presence, and Aaron’s sons, the priests, will splatter its blood against all sides of the altar.
Why the east side? 16 The priest must also remove the crop and the feathers[d] and throw them in the ashes on the east side of the altar

Procedures for the grain offerering/ Leviticus 2:1-16
I understand,if I am correct, the death of an animal to take the place of human death as an offering. But why is a grain offereing needed?

Procedures for the peace offering/Leviticus 3:1-17
Why and what is a peace offering? Peace from what? We are not promised a peaceful life, right?
Why is the blood splattered? 8 lay your hand on its head, and slaughter it in front of the Tabernacle. Aaron’s sons will then splatter the sheep’s blood against all sides of the altar. I was watching a show on National Geographic channel. It was about modern cult rituals and when I was reading abou these sacrifices it had some similarities. It really freaked me out. It seems very barbaric to me. How often did the sacrifices take place? How was the area cleaned. I know in csi shows they can see the blood even after it is cleaned with bleach. I think it would coz disease.

February Fifteen

I love doing this blog!
I try very hard not to scan when I read. I am sure (like everyone) I have some sort of attention deficit disorder because when I use to study I would read and then a word or phrase would take me away into a day dream and I would finish a page not knowing what I just read. Todays study was alot of repeating with differnt people. I did my best on reading each persons verse just in case something was different.

Offerings of dedication/Numbers 7:1-89
How often dod a person bring offerings? Did the leaders bring the offering for a group people or did each person bring offerings? 11 The Lord said to Moses, “Let one leader bring his gift each day for the dedication of the altar.”

12 On the first day Nahshon son of Amminadab, leader of the tribe of Judah, presented his offering.

February Fourteen

First complete writing back on the computer. I am trying to organize so I can write and catch up. I so missed doing this blog. It is what I do for my quiet time. I do not want it to feel rushed I want it to be my important time with the Lord.

Oh yeah Happy Valentines day. I am always late for EVERYTHING!! I still haven't finished my five year olds teacher gifts. I am making no-sew that should be sewed warming rice pillows. I picked out this cute bright flannel fabric and used fabric glue to hold it down (which does not work) then used thin bright yarn on the outside so it shows. I should have added some fragrance or something coz the rice doesn't smell so soothing.

Moses inspects the work/Exodus 39: 32-43
How did they move the entire tabernacle? 33 And they brought the entire Tabernacle to Moses:
the sacred tent with all its furnishings, clasps, frames, crossbars, posts, and bases

What does the word "bless" mean?? i.e. God bless you (when you sneeze) I am so blessed God blesses those who... You are such a blessing. 43 Then Moses inspected all their work. When he found it had been done just as the Lord had commanded him, he blessed them

The Tabernacle completed/Exodus 40:1-33

The Lord's Glory fills the tabernacle Exodus 40:34-38 and Numbers 9:15-23
How did it move durning the journeys?? . 38 The cloud of the Lord hovered over the Tabernacle during the day, and at night fire glowed inside the cloud so the whole family of Israel could see it. This continued throughout all their journeys.

February Thirteen

I struggled with this reading. I want to read the bible not scan it and Exodus repeats alot of the information.

Building the ark/Exodus 37:1-9

Building the table/Exodus 37:10-16

Building the lampstand/Exodus 37:17-24

Building the incense altar/Exodus 37:25-29

Building the Altar of Burnt Offering/Exodus 38:8

Building the courtyard/Exodus 38:9-20

Inventory of Materials/Exodus 38:21-31

Clothing for the priests/Exodus 39:1

Making the Ephod/Exodus 39:2-7
What is an ephod??

Making the chestpiece/Exodus 39:8-21

Additional clothing for the priests/Exodus 39:22-31
Has anyone seen this or is there a drawing of the badge? Do all people back then wear turbans?? 30 Finally, they made the sacred medallion—the badge of holiness—of pure gold. They engraved it like a seal with these words: Holy to the Lord. 31 They attached the medallion with a blue cord to Aaron’s turban, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

February Twelve

Catching up with what I hand written. Some of what I wrote in my hand written does not make sense to me but I am not going to change it because maybe it will make sense later>>>>?????

Instructions for the sabbath/Exodus 35:1-3
I am voting we still ebrace this day!!!

Gifts for the tabernacle/Exodus 35:4-36:7
Was there a reason for the specific colors of the fabric?
i.e. blue, purple and scarlet (not red but scarlet)

Building the tabernacle/Exodus 36:8-38
Is there an importance to which direction the Tabernacle faces? Do Churches face a certain direction now? 31 Then he made crossbars of acacia wood to link the frames, five crossbars for the north side of the Tabernacle 32 and five for the south side. He also made five crossbars for the rear of the Tabernacle, which faced west. 33 He made the middle crossbar to attach halfway up the frames; it ran all the way from one end of the Tabernacle to the other. 34 He overlaid the frames with gold and made gold rings to hold the crossbars. Then he overlaid the crossbars with gold as well.

February Eleven

Please pray for me that I catch up soon. I am losing time with God because I am concentrating on bringing all the handwritten on screen instead of the study. :(

The Calf of Gold/Exodus 32:1-29
How can these people turh from God after God did all of this for them?
Did the tablets break? 19 When they came near the camp, Moses saw the calf and the dancing, and he burned with anger. He threw the stone tablets to the ground, smashing them at the foot of the mountain.
(after reading again, it does say smashing, oops)
How is this not murder 27 Moses told them, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Each of you, take your swords and go back and forth from one end of the camp to the other. Kill everyone—even your brothers, friends, and neighbors.” 28 The Levites obeyed Moses’ command, and about 3,000 people died that day.

Moses Intercedes for Israel/Exodus 32:30-33:11
What kind of plague? 35 Then the Lord sent a great plague upon the people because they had worshiped the calf Aaron had made.

Moses sees the Lord's Glory/Exodus 33:12-23
What is meant by the word "favor" in 13 If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor. And remember that this nation is your very own people.” I started a book by Joel Osteen,I stopped quickly because I got a creepy feeling from his on going use of the word "favor". Also on the subject please let me know what you think of ?

A new copy of the covenant/Exodus 34:1-35
Is this still true????? 7 I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations.[k]
I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin.
But I do not excuse the guilty.
I lay the sins of the parents upon their children and grandchildren;
the entire family is affected—
even children in the third and fourth generations.”
Will we be punished for things that happened in the past???
This is one of my husbands struggles: 14 You must worship no other gods, for the Lord, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you. He asks how a perfect God a jealous God.
God considers worshiping idols as adultery? 16 Then you will accept their daughters, who sacrifice to other gods, as wives for your sons. And they will seduce your sons to commit adultery against me by worshiping other gods
What does this mean???? 26 “As you harvest your crops, bring the very best of the first harvest to the house of the Lord your God.

“You must not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.”
...not cook a young goat in it's mother's milk?????
Did Moses' face stay this way??? 35 and the people of Israel would see the radiant glow of his face. So he would put the veil over his face until he returned to speak with the Lord

February Ten

So how do you like me adding the scripture next to the bold ...eh...title or heading or whatever is in bold???!!!! Pretty nice huh!! I did it for all of my reader. (did you get it the non plural ha ha like radio stations do). No, really I did it for me. I am selfish and I am lazy so I do things in ways to make things easy and convenient for me. Now if I am waiting somewhere in line or something, I can read it on my phone or in another bible etc. I keep this bible in my house I don't want it to get too thrashed. I do hope it helps you in some way though :)

Dedication of the priests/Exodus 29:1-46
Tabernacle is the tent of meeting???
Did all the men wear turbans or just the priests? Did Jesus wear a turban? I know this is 1200-1400 years away but does anyone know?? It is never shown in modern drawings of him. It shows him with a little longer than shoulder length hair. Turbans were used to hold their long hair up, right??
Wouldn't all the blood go bad and smell and cause sickness? If it was cleaned afterward how could it be without modern detergents. Blood can be found even after it is bleeched ---> 11 Then slaughter the bull in the Lord’s presence at the entrance of the Tabernacle. 12 Put some of its blood on the horns of the altar with your finger, and pour out the rest at the base of the altar and 16 Then slaughter the ram, and splatter its blood against all sides of the altar and 20 Then slaughter it, and apply some of its blood to the right earlobes of Aaron and his sons. Also put it on the thumbs of their right hands and the big toes of their right feet. Splatter the rest of the blood against all sides of the altar. 21 Then take some of the blood from the altar and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron and his sons and on their garments.

Plans for the Incense altar/Exodus 30:1-10

Money for the Tabernacle/Exodus 30:11-16
What is the significance? What is the difference from this and a tithe?

Plans for the washbasin/Exodus 30:17-21
Is this where we get the term cleanlyness is godliness???:)

The anointing oil/Exodus 30:22-33
WOW If you don't wash your hands and feet you die? If you create the mixture for the annoiting oil you are cuoff from the community.

/the Incense/Exodus 30:34-38

Craftsmen:Benzalel and Oholiab/Exodus 31:1-11

Instructions for the Sabbath/Exodus 31:12-18
Why do we not honor this still? I feel it would be huge!!If everyone took this day not to work only to rest and worsip. The world could change!! I know around the bible belt alot of stores are closed on Sundays (would Sunday or Saturday be the Sabbath 14 You must keep the Sabbath day, for it is a holy day for you. Anyone who desecrates it must be put to death; anyone who works on that day will be cut off from the community. 15 You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day must be a Sabbath day of complete rest, a holy day dedicated to the Lord. Anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death. 16 The people of Israel must keep the Sabbath day by observing it from generation to generation. This is a covenant obligation for all time. 17 It is a permanent sign of my covenant with the people of Israel. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day he stopped working and was refreshed.’”
he being God or he being Moses gave whom the tablets? And was it the 10 comandments or all the laws?? 18 When the Lord finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant,[s] written by the finger of God.

February Nine

"Can we go in the living room now" Was my wake up call this morning. My five year old. She has been up since about 4. I have been tossing and turning with her in my bed since this time (oops!! I mean I would never let my kids in my bed. I am a tough strong mother!! nope 4am is a weak give in mommy) She is not a fun one to sleep with. How strange, huh! But she tosses and turns and can not spoon which should be easy to do. It's like spooning with a backwards spoon. Haha. Anyway way my quiet time has Max and Ruby turned down low in the background.

Offerings for the tabernacleExodus 25:1-9
What is a tabernacle. My bestfriends and I moved one of my bestfriends to Jacksonhole Wyoming. We drove there. In Salt Lake City we stopped at the Temple for the LDS. We got to listen to the tabernacle choir. It was amazing!!! I always thought that "tabernacle" was something in that particular religion. So help me to know coz I never really hear it in any of the churches I have been to.

Plans for the ArkExodus 25:10-22
What is an ark? I know it is a container. What makes it an Ark, instead of a "boat" or "box"?
What is a cherubim? How would moldings protcedt the Ark?(That was the other angel name I was trying to think of on yesterdays study)? In 19 Mold the cherubim on each end of the atonement cover, making it all of one piece of gold. 20 The cherubim will face each other and look down on the atonement cover. With their wings spread above it, they will protect it.

Plans for the table/ Exodus 25:23-30

Plans for the lampstand/ Exodus 25:31-40
All of this makes me think of God wanting our place of worship to be beautiful. Many people get upset at churches that appear "too" beautiful. My church is gorgeous. It is big so the beauty has to cost but it is in no way overdone or wasteful. Of course this is my opionion. I enjoy going and feeling the beauty in the landscape and feeling pleasant inside without dirty pews, carpet etc. But I have also use to drive to work on a certain Orange County freeway everyday, at night this church was lit up more than disneyland and it made me think how wasteful it was to have THAT many lights on it. So what do you think is correct?
Plans for the Tabernacle/ Exodus 26:1-37

Plans for the altar of burnt offering/Exodus 27:1-8

Plans for the courtyard / Exodus 27:9-21
I still am unclear on when the God says something is permanent why we don't observe it still. Where will it say that we do not need to follow something permanent?? (21b) This is a permanent law for the people of Israel, and it must be observed from generation to generation.
Clothing for the priests / Exodus 28:1-5
First what is the difference in a Pastor and a Priest? I thought a priest was in the Catholic religion and was someone who was married to God like a nun??? In 1 “Call for your brother, Aaron, and his sons, Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. Set them apart from the rest of the people of Israel so they may minister to me and be my priests.
In certain religions you can tell the difference from their dress/appearance who is the leaders/pastors/priests. Why is this. Some churches you can not tell the difference, they wear jeans, suits, hawaiin shirts etc....
Design of the ephod/ Exodus 28:6-14
What type of clothing is an ephod?
Design of the chestpiece / Exodus 28:15-30

Additional Clothing for the Priests/ Exodus 28:31-43
In 34 it mentions death. How can I know when reading the bible when the word die means death or dead to God (does that make sense) If he wears it, he will not die.

What is Moses title??? What did he wear? They spoke of Aaron and his sons but not of Moses???

February Eight

So not using the PC today :(
Updating to Window 7 wasn't sooo easy. Poor Jared was trying all day to fix it. He builds his computers so I know he is fuming. He is sooo easy going and slow to anger so when he does get upset I feel for him very much.
Anyhoo on with my study:

Social Responsibility/Exodus 22:16-31
Doesn't this almost say premarital sex is okay if taken care of after? Exodus 22:16-17 “If a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged to anyone and has sex with her, he must pay the customary bride price and marry her. 17 But if her father refuses to let him marry her, the man must still pay him an amount equal to the bride price of a virgin.
Exodus 21:18 What is a sorceress? I thought it was a female sorcerer(sp?)and why wouldn't he be put to death?? You must not allow a sorceress to live.
Exodus 22:28 Would this mean government??? 28 “You must not dishonor God or curse any of your rulers.

A call for justice/Exodus 23:1-13
I am not sure there is only 10 commandments. When reading the bible this way there seems to be alot more. What is the difference between these and the first 10?

Three annual festivals/Exodus 23:14-19
What is it now considered the second and third celebration??

A promise of the Lord's Presence/Exodus 23: 20-33
When God says he is sending an angel. Wait stop... I do not know what angels are. Even though in my prayers I ask for God to have them watch over me. What is the difference between them and humans? Are they also in Gods image. Are they as the fairy tails and stories describe them as shiny white with wings. What is a cupid or other "angel" like things??What is real and what is not?

Israel Accept the Lords Covenant/Exodus 24:1-18
I want to go back to the "ten" commandments. A number in this translation isnot showing the number ten it is saying "all my commandments".
AlAlso. The bible has things in certain numbered days. Noah and now Moses going up the mountain stayed for 40 days and 40 nights..What is the importance of the number??

February Seven

February Six was the first time blogging with Windows 7. I love the way I can have my blog to the left and then biblegateway.com to my right (on the desktop). Then I have my bible down in front of me. I makes it sooo easy to copy the scripture from biblegateway to the blog. WooHoo
This is what my hubby got for our 6th year wedding anniversery today. We are so thankful to God for his blessings these past 6 years and can't wait to see what is on the way!

The Ten commandments
Are we to still obey the commandments as they were to back then?? I know of course the moral ones, but what is it from then to after Jesus died for us?

Proper Use of altars
In Exodus 20:5-26 25 If you use stones to build my altar, use only natural, uncut stones. Do not shape the stones with a tool, for that would make the altar unfit for holy use. 26 And do not approach my altar by going up steps. If you do, someone might look up under your clothing and see your nakedness.I do not quite understand. Are church altars suppose to be made of natural material? Are they not to be above ground??????

Fair Treatment of Slaves
Alot of questions here. When did all of this change? Why are they still talking about multiple wives??

Cases of personal injury
When did all of these rules change?????

Protection of property
Some I agree and some I do not. Do we follow theses laws???

February Six

Good morning.
So excited to see life after Pharaoh!!

Manna and Quail from Heaven
Amazing.
God does provide. I have lost my job in April 2008. I was terrified but God has completely provided. In amazing ways. I would think there is no way to get more money when I needed more and I would get a letter in the mail stating I overpaid or they collected to much, and other ways. Also God has giving me ultimate resources to make what He has provided go ALONG way. He is just amazing.
I did not know Manna meant "what is it?

Water from the rock

Israel defeats the Amalekites

In Exodus 17:16b ...The Lord will be at war with Amalek generation after genration." Who is Amalek today? Are they still at war????

Jetro's visit to Moses
Was Jethro a believer? Was the burnt offering a first for Jethro?

Jethro's wise advise
God tells us to seek counsel from our parents. As well as making sure it is right with God as well. I like this example

The Lord reveals himeself at Sinai
I have a question? The Lord told Moses what to tell the people in Exodus 19:10-13 Moses told the Lord what the people had said. 10 Then the Lord told Moses, “Go down and prepare the people for my arrival. Consecrate them today and tomorrow, and have them wash their clothing. 11 Be sure they are ready on the third day, for on that day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai as all the people watch. 12 Mark off a boundary all around the mountain. Warn the people, ‘Be careful! Do not go up on the mountain or even touch its boundaries. Anyone who touches the mountain will certainly be put to death. 13 No hand may touch the person or animal that crosses the boundary; instead, stone them or shoot them with arrows. They must be put to death.’ However, when the ram’s horn sounds a long blast, then the people may go up on the mountain.[b]” but he adds sexual intercourse in Exodus 10:14 14 So Moses went down to the people. He consecrated them for worship, and they washed their clothes. 15 He told them, “Get ready for the third day, and until then abstain from having sexual intercourse.” Why??? I thought this is a gift from God? Is it just a form of fasting?? WOW This must have been an amazing sight for the people.

I can not wait for tomorow's study for the Ten Commandments. I have never read these (well not from a bible. you know what I mean...) So am really excited.

February Fifth

Good morning!
It is chilly this morning. We are having fun weather. Day before yesterday I was doing yard work in shorts and a tank top. Yesterday the clouds were so beautiful changing shapes and colors (well grays),threatening something but not delivering. Can't wait for what He has planned for me today.

Dedication of the firstborn
OKAY... Help in Exodus 13:15,16 ...That is why I now sacrifice all the firstborn males to the Lord-except that the firstborn sons are always bought back.' This ceremony will be like a mark branded on you hand or your forehead. It is a reminder that the power of the Lord's mighty hand brought us out of Egypt." How is the firstborn given to God then bought back? It mentions earlier in the scripture of animals but I did not understand the sons? Also the mark branded on your hand or forehead. What does this mean? "like a mark branded..". It got my attention because of the mark of the beast on the hand or forehead. Please explain.

Israel's wilderness detour
I could imagine what the Israelites were thinking when God said He was going to have Pharaoh come after them. 'God, come on...'

The Egyptians pursue Israel
The poor Iraelites and more so Moses. After all the plagues and Pharaohs heart remaining hard then finally they are freed then they are camped out by the beach and what do they see coming. I laughed out loud at Exodus 14:12b ...It's better to be a slav in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!". They must have been sooo frustrated . Then good ole' Moses Exodus 14:14 The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm. It does not say what there reaction was but I am sure it wasn't Oh Okay!!

Escape through the Red Sea
WOW

A Song of deliverance
Could you imagine what the celebration must have been like. I see miracles everyday. Small ones that people might not see but being a parent it is amazing to see. But wow to see miracles like this.

Bitter water at Marah
Love the miracles. Were all of the Israelites believers and good people? Or were there evil in them?

February Fourth

Good morning!
I am hopeing someone has answers to my dream questios. Last night I had a dream of a strange storm which we do not get cool storms here just sun and rrlittle rain. The dream it was twisters that didn't land just there and now I can't remember what was first a cloud that was shootting lightening bolts. Yesterdays dream was of a earthquake like in Haiti. I was going through it. We all knew it was coming though and got to prepare but even preparing did so much devastation. I am not scared in the dreams though.
I am looking forward to todays study!

A plague of locusts
Exodus 10:2 I've also done it so you can tell you children and grandchildren about how I made amockery of the Egyptians and about the signs I displayed among them-and so you will know that I am the Lord" Are we to spread this now? When the bible talks about carrying things to generations, like curses etc. Does that still hold true? I could not imagine how the Egyptians could support Pharaoh. I don't know how the government was ran, but. I would imagine the people were begging him to give Moses what he asks.

A plague of darkness
I am wondering if the darkness was being blind? Does anyone know? Exodus 10:23b ...But there was light as usual where the people of Israel lived. Coulg the Egyptians see this in the distance. Would they go there instead of staying???

Death for Egypt's firstborn
I am a little confused. In Exodus 11:1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "I will send just one more disaster on Pharaoh and the land of Egypt. After that, Pharaoh will let you go. In fact, he will be so anxious to get rid of you that he will practically force you to leave the country. .Tell all the Israelite men and women to ask their Egyptian neighbors for articles of silver and gold." (Now the LORD had caused the Egyptians to look favorably on the people of Israel, and Moses was considered a very great man in the land of Egypt. He was respected by Pharaoh's officials and the Egyptian people alike.) So Moses announced to Pharaoh, "This is what the LORD says: About midnight I will pass through Egypt. All the firstborn sons will die in every family in Egypt, from the oldest son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the oldest son of his lowliest slave. Even the firstborn of the animals will die. Then a loud wail will be heard throughout the land of Egypt; there has never been such wailing before, and there never will be again. But among the Israelites it will be so peaceful that not even a dog will bark. Then you will know that the LORD makes a distinction between the Egyptians and the Israelites. All the officials of Egypt will come running to me, bowing low. `Please leave!' they will beg. `Hurry! And take all your followers with you.' Only then will I go!" Then, burning with anger, Moses left Pharaoh's presence. Now the LORD had told Moses, "Pharaoh will not listen to you. But this will give me the opportunity to do even more mighty miracles in the land of Egypt." Although Moses and Aaron did these miracles in Pharaoh's presence, the LORD hardened his heart so he wouldn't let the Israelites leave the country. Why is the Lord telling Moses that this time he will get to leave but then He hardens Pharaoh's heart again?

The First Passover
Okay I have a question? Did the people eat the offerings after giving them to the Lord. I really do not know much about sacrifices. Except that THANK YOU JESUS FOR DYEING FOR MY SINS coz I could not see the world doing this still. What is the signifacance (sp?) of bread without yeast?
Well, I think my question for Exodus 11: 1-11 is answered now. He hadn't killed the first born Egyptians yet, right??? In Exodus 12:14 This is a day to remember. Each year, from generation to generation, you must clelbrate it as a special festival to the Lord. This is for all time. Why is this not a HUGE holiday still? I know it is mentioned but not like any of our other ones?? back to Exodus 12: 2 From now on, this month will be the first month of the year for you. Why is this not so???
Isn't passover in April??? One of the descriptions of passover is not working except for preparing food for 7 days (WOOHOO come on now! Who's with me for bringing this back!! sorry) and not eating bread with yeast or having yeast in your homes (again what is the significance). Why are we not following this today? In Exodus 12:17...celebrate this day from generation to generation. and Exodus 12:24 "Remember, these instructions are a permanent law that you and your descendants must observe forever. forever would still be now right??? HELP!!! Maybe only Istaelites??? How do we know if we are a generation of Israelites???? I have Lithuanian Jewish blood... but Lithuaia isn't around anymore....

Israel's Exodus from Egypt
Okay all laugh... I get it now exodus/....exit....duh!!
Again in Exodus 1242b ...,and it must be commemorated every year by all the Israelites, from generation to generation. Am I the only one who just acknowledges "oh its passover today" or is it 7 days ??

Instructions for the Passover
Who is doing this still??

February Three

Whoa... Slow down how is it the 3rd already?
I need some prayer for clarity. I am not sure if I should take on a bible study. It would be at my church which is further away and at night which I am sooo not good at. Why do they not have 6 AM bible study's :).
Also for my HEART bible study. I am having a hard time picking up the book. And for my girls with their bible studies. It was their first time last week and Rileys teacher was a little overwhelmed.

I am loving my husbands PC this morning but I feel like a lil kid. A normal keyboard is big!!

A plague of blood
My question is again about the Pharaohs magicians. In Exodus 7:22 But again the magicians of Egypt used their magic, and the, too, turned water into blood. So Pharaoh's heart remained hard.... How do they have power to do this? Is God giving it to them because it is not in His perfect timing to have Pharaoh's heart changed?

A plague of frogs
How are the magicians doing this as well??
I could not imagine the stench and just grossness of the frogs. Yuck. I assume they were not little cute frogs like we see in our yards from time to time either. yuck

A plague of gnats
Exodus 8:18 Pharaoh's magicians tried to do the same thing with their secret arts, but this time they failed. And the gnats covered everyone, people and animals alike. Does anyone know about this??? Is it God allowing and not allowing the magicians to do these things? It said earlier that Pharaohs heart will remain hard until a certain time.

A plague of flies
Okay this is discusting. I can not stand flies!!!!!!!! In the summer here we get flies. I do not remember growing up, EVER , seeing flies in my house. I don't remember ever seeing my parents use a fly swater. So this has to be the worst plague ever!!!! The germs and maggots and eecchhh.
In Exodus 8:28 "All right ,go ahead, " Pharaoh replied. " I will let your go into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the Lord your God. But don't go too far away. Now hurry and pray for me." I have discovered this in life. Non believers saying "your in my prayers" or saying thanks when I say "Ive been praying for you" even my husband appreciates me praying for him (and please pray for him I see him getting closer to the Lord). Why does this happen? If someone said this to me when they were not talking about My Lord and Savior I would comment. Not say Thank You. I would not ask a buddist or Satanic or Muslim to pray for me???? What are your thoughts?

A plague against livestock

A plague of Boils

A plague of hail
I wonder if Moses got discouraged or just went along well knowing that Pharaohs heart would not change yet.
I look at biblical times when the miracles God did were like this. And yet people still didn't believe. Huh?

February Two

Good morning!
So I jinxed myself. I was just telling someone who was without there computer,I couldn't live without mine but I am lucky to have back up. Ah Hum I would like to recant!! My laptop plug broke ( I am not sure how, with two toddlers and 3 dogs running around). Today I am on my daughter's dell laptop doing todays blog. The G,O,F1 and F12 keys are missing. and the two/"at" sign has to be hit hard to work and the mouse pad and lower click button doesn't work. Hey but it plays dvds for the girls just fine :).
I will be putting take laptops in to my todo list.
Here I go:

Moses returns to Egypt

stop. I have never realized how many words have O and G in them. ....

Back to yesterdays question. I have not checked to see if I had an answer yet regarding Pharaoh being a name not a title. Last night I was watching "Scooby Doo,Where's my mummy" with Scooby's number one fan, my three year old. (not for biblical research of course but for fun hee hee) and Cleopatra said she is the last of the Pharaoh's and queen of Egypt, so that kind of confirms it being a name, right?... unofficialy.
I am confused in Exodus 4:twenty-twenty6 So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey, and headied back to the land of Egypt. In his hand he carried the staff of God. And the Lord told Mses," When you arrive back in Egypt, go to Pharaoh and perform all the miracles I have emporwered you to do. But I will harden his heart so he will refuse to let your people goo. Then you will tell him, 'This is what the Lord says: Israel is my firstborn soon. I coommanded you, "let my son go,so he can worship me." But since you have refused,I will now kill your first born son!'" On the way to Egypt, at a place where Moses and his family had stopped ffr the night, the Lord cnfrnted him and was about to kill him. But Moses' wife,Zipporah, took a flint knife and circumcised her son. She toouched his feet with the foreskin and said, "Now, you are my bridegroom of bloood to me."(When she said " a bridegroom of blood," she was referring to the circumcision.)After that, the Lord left him alone.
~In twenty 1-twenty 3 I have read it over and over and I thought God was referring to killing Pharaoh's first born not Moses'.
~In twenty 4 It says confronted him and was about to kill himis that Moses' firstborn or Moses?
~In twenty 5-twenty 6 I have many questions Why wouldn't her son already be circumsized (as commanded on the 8th (or is it 9th) day after birth). What is a bridegroom of blood? Why would this make the Lord leave him alone?

Moses and Aaron speak to Pharaoh
(I keep thinking of my friend who talks about "phone..phobia I think she calls it" I bet she wishes God would give her an "Aaron" to make the phone calls for her hee hee do you get it coz Moses didn't want to do the talking) sorry....off task again.

Making bricks without straw
Is it the Israelites who made the pyramids??? Off subject but it keeps popping up in my head. My husband says that it is a mystery how they were built but it seems to me that the Egyptians made the Israelites work harder than they were able and that God was with them even if they didn't feel it.

Promises of deliverance
Exdus 6:two And God said to Moses, "I am Yahweh-'the Lord.' I appeared to Abraham, to Issac, and to Jacob as El-Shaddai-'God Almighty'-but I did not reveal my name, Yahweh, to them. What is the significance of the different names and telling humans or not?

The ancestors of Moses and Aaron

Aaron's Staff Becomes a snake
Exodus 7:5 When I raise my powerful hand and bring our the Israelites, the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord." Did they start worshipping God after this?
Exodus 7:11-twelve The Pharaoh called in his own wise men and sorcerers, and these Egggyptian magicians did the same thing with their magic. They threw down their staffs, which also became serpents! But then Aarons staff swallowed up their staffs. How did this happen? How could the Eyptian's staffs become serpants? Help!!!

February One

Okay I will say it. "Oh my gooses, how is it already February". But...not reallly. January seemed normal length, almost long to me. Because of the 5 weeks and 31 days. I am not where I want to be financialy on Feb 1. But God will provide and I will be by March 1. I am very proud of myself. I have done 31 days of this blog. I have been faithful. (insert smile) My goal is to get it out there more this month so I can have more input. I love what I have learned this month already and am excited what is more to come.

The Israelites in Egypt
In Exodus 1:21 And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own. I am probably reading too much into it but did midwives not have families or children back then???

The birth of Moses
I love this story. I can hear it over and over. I love telling it to my girls.

Moses escapes to Midiah
I haven't read this before. I knew Moses was a murderer so woohoo I love learning. Exodus 2:12 After looking in all directions to make sure no one was watching. Moses killed the egyptian and hid the body in the sand. WHOA!!
?--> Exodus 2:23b-25 They cried out for help, and their cry rose up to God. God heard their groaning, and he remembered his covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act. When I read this it gives me a picture of God busy in heaven and he just now hears their crys and was like doo da doooo oh yeah I remember that promise I made ( not to mock God in any way) It is just how it feels when I read it/????? Help!! Doesn't he always hear all of our prayers???? and crys for help?

Moses' family tree

Moses and the burning bush
?'s --->In Exodus 3:14 God replied to Moses,"I Am Who I Am' 3:15 God also said to Moses," Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of you ancestors-th God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob-has sent me to you. This is my eternal name.. my name to remember for all generations. What do all of these names mean. 3:14 is capitalized as shown. Help. In 3:22 Every Israelite woman will ask for articles of silver and gold and fine clothing from her Egyptian neighbors and from the foreign women in their houses. You will dress your sons and daughters with these, stripping the Egyptians of their wealth." Are the Egyptians in a transe of some kind or in fear? Why would they give these riches to the Israelites when the do not like them? Oh!! Is the king of Egypt's name Pharaoh???? (go ahead and laugh...) I thought that was his title. "The Pharaoh"

Signs of the Lord's power
I love that the scripture shows Moses being scared and knowing he is not able and God tells him that it will be okay He will be with him. Like me. I get scared that I cant do things but I know God can.
